So there you have it folks! It’s now final. Better start contacting Andie and confirming your attendance. Otherwise, I will have to call Man Bachik and have him twist your arms (and both your legs) until you confirm. I have his number on speed dial. I don’t want to have to do this – but I will if I have to

The Organising Committe has worked so hard to make this happen and I think they deserve our support. Anyway, if you have any problems – any problems whatsoever about being there – please talk to any of the Organising Committee, or you can even call Andie (I think).

In any case, the cost of the do is RM85++ per head. But thanks to a contributions from a few generous people, the Organising Committee has managed to keep the cost down to RM60 (nett) per head. But this should not stop any other generous souls out there from contributing, too. Any excess will be donated to Institut Jantung Negara.

There are a few house rules, though:

1. Bring your business cards and drop them in the drop box
2. Spouses (I don’t care how many you have) and children are NOT invited

For those yang ‘takut bini’ and need help cooking-up an excuse why their spouses can’t come along, please call me. We’ll work something out; I need a good excuse as badly as any of you!

Dukacita dimaklumkan bahawa ayahanda kepada Zaidatul Zawiyah telah kembali ke rahmatullah pada petang 30 Julai 2008. Jenazah Allahyarham dijangka dikebumikan di Shah Alam pada pagi 31 Julai 2008.

Sehubungan itu, saya bagi pihak kawan-kawan semua ingin mengucapkan takziah kepada Zai dan keluarga. Semoga roh Allahyarham dicucuri rahmat dan ditempatkan di kalangan orang-orang yang soleh. Amin.

Let’s kick things off with this first one of the entire batch. Like you, I can’t make out who is where on the pic. But it doesn’t matter. Its the spirit that counts, right?

This is another one of those ‘its the spirit that counts’ pics. I can make out En Halim Greng! Greng! and Mr Koh Seng Fee, tho. And that’s Puan Murni (my homeroom advisor), right at the very end (seated).

Uji Rashid and Nozie Nani? You mean you don’t recognise these lovely ladies are? Shame on you!

And this is Andie’s homeroom (homeroom D, I think). Yes, that IS En Haja Mydin, not Amitabh Bachan, ok?

And this was Andie’s class, Pluto (I believe). These were the guys who were fun enough to have earned distinction of being named after a very lovable cartoon character. The rest of us were named after boring planets.

Er… what did you say? You mean Pluto is also a planet?

And of course, the much revered Dato’ Jamal – I’d recognise that bush jacket anywhere!

This statement by En Kandan Saikun is what I remember most about him. He had gathered all of us on the badminton court between Hostel C and the Dining Hall one night, and issued the statement. Looking the part of a full-fledged WWE pro wrestler, I believed him. He scared the pants off of me enough to actually make me stop smoking!

I stopped for almost 3 hours.

No doubt about it, En Kandan had created an impactful first impression. But despite the gruff exterior, the eccentric way he wore his Johnson boots, his ‘take-no-prisoners’ demeanour, En Kandan turned out to be one of the gentlest and most caring person I have had the honour of knowing.

I know this for a fact when I was caught ‘liau-ing’ and brought to his office. I thought that I was going to have at least an arm and a leg broken (if I was lucky). As it turned out, he sat me down and had a chat with me. His fatherly tone was open, compassionate and surprisingly very sensitive. He was genuinely interested to know why I kept breaking the rules and how he could help me.

When it was his turn to speak, he gently shared with me some of his experience and wisdom. By the time he was finished, I was so touched that I was ready to swear that I would never break another rule again if I lived to be 125 years old! He stopped me just in time. Then smiled he smile and said I could go.

And as I walked out of his office, he screamed at he top of his voice, “LAIN KALI KAU KELUAR MALAM LAGI, AKU PATAH-PATAHKAN KAKI KAU!” Everyone in the administration office must have heard him and were probably wondering what hell I had just been through with him.

Stunned, I looked back at him for some clue as to what just happened. He smiled and winked.

Nasa has suggested Kolej Tuaku Jaafar as a venue It is an international boarding school in Mantin. The college would be a good place to hold the reunion since it’s a school and we could do stuff we used to do. The golfers could also jump the fence and play a few rounds next door. To be held during our July school holidays.

Be Generous (for those who can)

One person’s small change may be another person’s monthly income. Maybe you can put a minimum amount, and those who wish to contribute more, are very much welcomed. Sponsor(s) are welcome

Location tu I think best is KL. Kalau outdoors tu tak apa, tapi don’t have it during monsoon season. And to me lah, don’t have it for too long. Setakat dari lepas Zuhor to lepas Asar.

No 5-star hotels

KL Tower since Datuk zul is the CEO. Other that celebrating it sky high, we cud do other stuff there as well like the jungle trail, fly fox and also explorace kindda thing. . That is if we do not want to stay overnight.

Informal is Good

Of the few reunions I’ve attended, the one at carcosa stood out from the rest coz to me it captured the essence of a reunion, i.e. an informal affair that allows maximum interaction in a relax environment – so go easy on the “official/formal” programme. What essentially would happen is people will just break into groups and chat, thus would be great to fashion the reunion in that manner

No, I’m not the one who is getting married (again).

It is our friend, Khairuddin Derwish who is announcing the wedding of his daughter Hasanah (a 3^rd Year Syariah student) to a fellow by the name of Mohd. Suhail bin Mohd. Sufian. The reception will be in Cairo on 18th July 2008. The date of the local reception will be announced later. Congratulations and our best wishes go to the young couple.

Semoga dipermudahkan segala urusan mereka, dipanjangkan umur, dimurahkan rezeki, dikekalkan jodoh dan bahagialah hendaknya kedua-dua mereka hingga ke akhir hayat. Amin!
